I love london. I only live a 50 minute train journey away so it is nice to pop in when I can. On Thursday I trotted off to the Tate Modern to go to their new Henri Matisse exhibition and to soak up all the culture it had to offer. As soon as I stepped out onto the platform at Waterloo, I felt like I was home! (The plan is to move to London after graduation - it's just soooo expensive). Anyway I day dreamed my way through the different gallery rooms in the Tate, jotting down certain artists I really liked (and wanted to purchase when I'm rich and old ha) before making my way to the 'Matisse Cut-Outs' exhibition. Truth be told it wasn't an exhibition that was on my must see list, but I enjoyed it all the same. I generally just love most art in general and like to see working sketches and ideas scribbled down to get the idea of the final piece. This exhibition is all about Matisse's last collection before he passed so it is seen as pretty iconic in that sense. I loved the stained glass windows pieces because they looked beautiful with the light shining through. I am also a fan of the huge wall sized pieces as I am always in awe of the sheer size. I would have to say I prefer some of Matisse's paintings and things (like the Goldfish bowl painting) but I am still glad that I had a chance to see some of Matisse's work in the flesh.
After getting all cultured we popped over the millenium bridge and went to the Burger & Lobster. I had never been there before but have heard rave reviews. I opted for their Lobster roll and it was beyond lovely but very filling! I also had a Raspberry Lemonade which was made with soda and it was to die for! On the way back to the tube we ended up doing some luxury window shopping. I fell in love with some Smythson notepads and an Hermes bracelet. And no trip is complete without getting some macaroons from Laduree because well they are my FAVOURITE.
Now I guess it is back to bloomin' coursework before entertaining family over Easter. What are you guys up to over the bank holiday?
