I would say in the last 6 months or so I’ve been such a believer in a good base = a good face. I’m not sure if I’ve just made that term up or not but bare with me. You know those days where you wake up and are lazy and don’t really prep your skin properly before putting your face on for the day? (As soon as you do, it’s instant regret). Your skin feels really rough and dry and looks dulls. Yes them days. Fair enough you want those extra 10 mins in bed and don’t worry you still can! I’ve found some key prep products that are a quick salvation for perfectly prepped skin! So going through my key products (in order of how I would use them too)!
Mac Lightful Softening Spray Lotion
This is probably the most time saving product and can really make you feel like your skin has gone from shit to fabulous! I feel like it’s between an exfoliator and a radiance boosting product. I spray some squirts of this to a large cotton pad and rub all over my face. I tend to use the back of the pad and squirt some more on as well to make sure all my face feels covered and smooth. It really softens my face and feels like it gets rid of the roughness and is ready for the glam to be applied. I feel like this whole Mac Lightful skincare range is not shouted about enough because you do see instant results. I think it’s all designed in by actual scientists in China for that market so it’s more high tech.
Glamglow Waterburst
I think the key to good skin prep before makeup is a thick and decent moisturiser. I used to use the Benefit one which is amazing by the way but having run out of it I tried the Glamglow Waterburst and it’s great (and currently on my second jar). It’s not as thick and creamy it’s more lightweight and rubs in quicker. But it’s super hydrating and does what it says. My key tip would be always use a good moisturiser before ever putting on makeup.
Dr Jart Cicapair Treatment
This is life changing, I’m not going to lie. You know when you first use a product and can instantly see results, that’s this baby. If you suffer from redness, this is for you. For me I normally have blemishes and redness in the morning. So I take a bit of this on my finger and rub into those areas, it instantly gets rid of redness. It’s even great to use before you go to bed to combat your blemishes or if you’re staying at your lovers and you want to take your makeup off but don’t want a post red face wipe look. They have the mini version here so you can test or really great for travel. Or if you love like me you can size up here.
Too Faced Hangover Primer
Smells great, does the job, and done. This product has coconut water in (to hydrate) and hyaluronic acid (to plump up your face), so basically all the ingredients you need after a night out, hence the name Hangover. I won’t always use this primer as I like to switch up my primers but this is defo one to reach one when some extra TLC is needed. Another instant product you can see the difference with.
Becca Backlight Priming Filter
You want an instant glow without looking shiny AF? Well that’s this. It really brightens up your whole face to look fresher. I know a few people who use this and they will always (and me obviously) get comments on their makeup when they’ve used it and how fresh and glowing they look. It can really make your normal everyday look pop! So on a normal day I would use this after the moisturiser, Dr Jart Cicapair and then this before applying my foundation.
