To be totally transparent, I was actually a little conscious even bringing bikinis with me on holiday (I mean ever only high waisted ones at that). I've never liked my body and spend many hours a day hating and being very mean and judgemental with myself. However I didn't want to spend this holiday in the Dominican Republic crying over what I saw in the mirror like I did last year. So I thought fuck it, man up, put on that two piece and walk down to the pool. Being on holiday (and especially the start of it where you are all pasty) is sort of where you are most vulnerable  You don't want to wear makeup because it's so hot and you want your skin to breathe. You hair takes a beating with chlorine, sea water and heat taking it in turns to do it's damage and puff it up. So to then put your half-naked body out to a bunch of random strangers it's quite a lot to cope with.

Having the high waist bit to my bikini bottoms made me feel a bit more confident as my lower belly is where I particularly hate. However I even got that out when I was tanning because the main goal is to have as an equal of a tan as one can get, am I right? So I thought ah well who cares, I want my tan on more than I care about these people seeing my rolls.

I know it sounds silly but also posting a bikini photo on Instagram really boosted my confidence with a lot of lovely lady giving messages of love. As much as social media can have a damaging effect on your mental health and self-confidence it can also lift you up too!

Also by about 6pm I had, had so many strawberry daiquiris I really didn't give a fuck about my wobbly bits out and even went down to the beach for a mini photo shoot.

So this summer let's just embrace ourselves and instead of being sad and missing out on things because we don't like the way we look, let's just say fuck it and have a fabulous old summer.
